约翰Schlabach joined the faculty of the newbb电子平台 音乐学院 as trumpet professor in the fall of 1998. Prior to joining the newbb电子平台 faculty, Schlabach taught at 穆雷 State University, 穆雷, 1983-1998年. Schlabach was chosen "University Teacher of the Year" in 1995 by the Kentucky 音乐 Educators Association, 2001年, he was the recipient of the newbb电子平台 音乐学院 "Distinguished Teacher" award. He earned degrees from Northwestern University 和 Western Illinois University.

Mr. Schlabach has presented numerous solo recitals at major universities throughout the midwest 和 southeast, 和 has extensive performing experience as a principal 和 solo orchestral player. He is currently principal trumpet in the Ohio Valley Symphony, 和 is first trumpet in OhioBrass, the faculty brass quintet in residence in the newbb电子平台 音乐学院. He also performs frequently with the Columbus 和 West Virginia Symphony Orchestras.

Schlabach has written a number of educational articles that have appeared in publications such as The International Trumpet Guild Journal 和 的乐器演奏家. His article "On 连接ing the Ear 和 Brass Performance" appeared in all four of the professional journals of the trumpet, 角, 长号, 和 tuba/euphonium international associations. Keith Johnson, Regents Trumpet Professor at the University of North Texas 和 author ofThe Art of Trumpet Playing has stated, "His pedagogical writing is among the very finest I have seen ...." Mr. Schlabach is the founder 和 director of the annual Ohio Trumpet Workshops, which are week-long summer camps held on the O.U. campus for serious high school trumpet players.
